Defendant and company index
Who has been sued, who has gone to trial, and what the juries found. Being named in a complaint is an allegation, not a finding; this index says which is which.
Companies listed only as "named in complaints" have not been found liable of anything by any court known to this project. Several defendants have been found not liable at trial (see Caesarstone, DuPont and Makita in the Colorado record). Fault percentages describe individual jury findings in individual cases.

- Verified: secondary source
- Checked against a major news organisation, professional body or university publication.
- Reported by an interested party
- Rests on a law-firm release, trade press or legal-marketing site. Treat figures as claims until independently confirmed.

Scope
This index includes a company when it (a) went to trial in a case in the litigation tracker, (b) was allocated fault by a jury, or (c) made a public statement in the regulatory record. Companies listed as "unverified" appear on a legal-marketing site's list of defendants and nowhere else this project has checked; they are kept so that readers know the name has been raised, not as a finding. Employers (fabrication shops) are not indexed because workers' compensation generally bars suits against them and they appear only in fault allocations.
Companies that believe a record is wrong or incomplete can write to the editor; corrections are logged on the corrections page.
