Silicosis Lawsuit is an independent publication. It documents silicosis and the occupational silica exposure that causes it, with a particular focus on the engineered-stone (quartz countertop) outbreak, the lawsuits and verdicts that have followed, the regulation that is emerging in response, and the practical resources available to affected workers and their families.

The aim is to be a reference that people can rely on and cite: workers trying to understand what has happened to them, journalists covering the story, researchers who need the litigation and regulatory context, and lawyers on either side who want an accurate public record. Silicosis is preventable, and the people it affects most often have the least access to trustworthy, plain-language information. That gap is what this site exists to close.

What this site is not

It is not a law firm, not a lawyer-referral service, not a medical provider and not a government agency. It does not provide legal or medical advice, does not evaluate anyone's claim, and does not collect or pass on claim information. Nothing here creates an attorney-client or doctor-patient relationship. Who is behind it

The site is founded and edited by Dr. Ahmad Hassan, PhD, a researcher with a background in peer-reviewed publication. He sets the editorial standard, decides what is published, and is responsible for the accuracy of what appears here. He is not a lawyer or a physician, and the site does not claim otherwise.

How the site is researched and written

Every page is built on citable sources: the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and NIOSH, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, the California Department of Public Health, peer-reviewed medical research, court records, and established news organisations. Sources are listed on each page so readers can check them. Allegations made in lawsuits are described as allegations unless and until a court has ruled on them. Where facts are uncertain or still developing, the page says so. The methodology page describes the source hierarchy and verification process in detail.

Use of AI. Research, drafting and routine technical work on this site are assisted by an AI system (Anthropic's Claude), operated by the editor. AI is used to gather and organise public sources, draft and update text, and maintain the site's structure. It is not used to invent facts, cases, quotes or sources, and nothing is published without editorial review. If an error slips through, the corrections policy applies and the correction is logged.

How content is checked, and what we ask of readers

Our due diligence. Before a fact is published it is checked against the strongest source this site can reach, and that source is cited on the page. Structured records (verdicts, cases, companies, regulations, studies) each carry a verification label that says how far the check went: against a primary record such as a statute, agency publication or journal index; against a major news organisation or professional body; or only against an interested party such as a law firm's own release. Where a source could not be read, the record says so. The methodology explains the labels and the source registry lists every source used.

Your own diligence. This site is a research publication, not an official record and not a substitute for one. Court records, agency figures and the law change, and a summary can be out of date or, despite our checks, wrong. Before relying on anything here for a decision that matters, follow the source link and read the original, and take medical questions to a physician and legal questions to a licensed attorney in your state. If you find an error, tell us; corrections are made and logged publicly.

Spanish-language pages. The pages under /es/ are written in Spanish by the editor with AI assistance, following the same sourcing rules as the English pages they mirror.
